John Jerome Reider & Patricia Elaine Heath Family
This page is devoted to all of the documents and records collected for the John Jerome Reider & Patricia Heath family. None of the John Jeromes have been known as Senior or Junior so I have avoided that. In 1930 he was living with his mother and father but they split soon after. By 1940, his father had died and he was living with his mother and stepfather but spent a lot of time with his maternal grandparents. After graduating from Bell HS in Feb 1942, he joined the Army-Air Force and served as a Chemical Warfare specialist. He spent 3 years stateside and a year overseas in China. He returned to the US after the war in 1946.
Pat was born to transplanted Kansans. Her father had come out to California in 1921 to work in the oil fields. Soon after, Gladys was persuaded to follow him out and they married. Pat was born in 1924. She led what she called an idyllic existence first in Midway City and later in Los Alamitos. During WWII she went to live in NYC with a few friends for a year. Once home in Southern California, she met John at a Tip-Toppers (club for tall people) dinner after the war.
